INTRODUCTION
Islam is not just a mere religion – it is the way of life. The teachings of Islam encompassed every aspect of our life including in medicine and medical practise. The medical field have seen advancemence since the last centuries and with this achievements, lots of issues regarding islamic views about the new findings of the field . Therefore, this is where the need of Fiqh Medicine comes into its place.
Medical school academic curriculum does not provide this special course especially for muslim students to become a good and well prepared muslim doctor in order to fulfil his function not just being a good doctor, but also a spiritual healer to the patients.
Thus, realizing this is a very important aspect to be adressed; Penang Medical College Islamic Society would like to propose a one day seminar of Fiqh Medicine for medical students.
However, Fiqh Medicine is a broad topic, thus the organizer would like to narrow the discccussion regarding few important topics:
1. The Concept of Health & Illness in Islam and Islamic Medical Ethics, Codes & Oaths
2. Objective of Syariah (Maqasid Syariyyah) Pertaining to Medical Fiqh
3. Principles of Fiqh (Qawaid Fiqhiyyah) Pertaining to Medical Fiqh & Its Application
4. Important Regulations Pertaining to the Sick, Dying & Death
OBJECTIVE
a. To educate the participants – professionals, healthcare workers, medical and nursing students and promote understanding on practical aspect of fiqh medicine that will be used later on in the medical practise.
b. To update participants on the latest Islamic view of medical concept and health issues.
c. To motivate participants to seek knowledge beyond medical academic curriculum
d. Promote the spirit of continuous learning among medical professionals and medical students.
